Okay so it’s been a while since I last updated my skincare routine, but instead of deleting the old post, I renamed it the clean and budget friendly routine. It’s still a great low-maintenance and cost-effective system that worked for me for a long time, but it’s good to switch things up now and then. So, with that being said, here is my updated current (clean) skincare routine:
MORNING:
CLEANSE
Rinse face with water, unless I’ve worked out- then I cleanse with the YTP Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser.
TONE
I still use the Thayers Witch Hazel Rose Toner, but now I apply it with these exfoliation cotton rounds. It’s such a simple thing to switch and it truly did make a difference in the texture of my skin.
TREAT
There’s a number of serums you can choose from to treat different things- my current favorite for daytime is the FAB Resurfacing Liquid. It’s a gentle daily exfoliator that eats away at dead skin cells. Only thing to remember with this one is that you must let it sit on your skin for 10 minutes before you put anything else on. It relies on its own PH to work its magic, and adding more products over it too soon will defeat the purpose.
MOISTURIZE
I follow serum with the YTP Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream. Make sure to bring it down to your neck area too! I then apply SPF with the Supergoop! Bright-Eyed Mineral Eye Cream and their Glowscreen as well, applied on face and neck.
NIGHT:
REMOVE MAKEUP
I used to let my face cleanser do most of the work in this regard, but that just wasn’t cutting it. I’d always be left with lots of eye makeup leftover to be cleaned off with q-tips or turned into major eye boogers for the morning lol. So I added the Bioderma Micellar Water Makeup Remover to the routine. I use it with the smooth side of the exfoliating cotton rounds mentioned above, and run it across my brows to remove that makeup as well.
CLEANSE
One of the best changes I ever made to my skincare routine was adding a cleansing balm. The one I’ve been loving is the YTP Superberry Dream Cleansing Balm. Rub into dry skin, wet hands and continue scrubbing- this will create a soapy kind of substance. Scrub a little more and rinse. It cleanses skin and removes impurities without stripping the skin of its natural oils. If your skin is naturally on the dryer side, or you live in a dry climate, I would HIGHLY recommend using this.
TONE
This step is the same for evening as it is for morning.
TREAT
The serum I love for nighttime is the Glow Recipe Niacinamide Dew Drops. Niacinamide is great for controlling sebum production, which helps keep pores clear. It also contains watermelon and hyaluronic acid, which get your skin looking glowy and feeling moisturized.
MOISTURIZE
I follow serum with the YTP Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask all over the face and neck, and add the YTP Dream Eye Cream around the eyes. I then lock it all in with a face oil, I rotate between two. First, the Herbivore Emerald Glow Oil for deep moisture (I use about 3-4 drops). The second, the Lux Unfiltered Bronzing Face Drops, for a bit of a glow (I use about 5 drops). I switch back and forth between these two nightly, and will make adjustments as needed, depending on if I want more moisture or a bit more of a tan.
