Dress Styles I’m Into Right Now

Dress styles I'm into right now

A few months ago, when it was freezing cold and snowing outside, I was dreaming of warmer weather which may have led me to purchasing a few dresses that god knows I don’t need. BUT I will make the argument for the idea that it is nice to get some updates to your closet now and then- in with the new, out with the old (still working on that “out with the old” part though..lol). And, with that being said, none of the items I purchased were like anything I already owned. It made me realize that my dress game has changed a bit, so I thought I’d share the pieces I bought and what I loved about them. Here’s the dress styles I’m into right now:

Puff Sleeves

I know puff sleeves have been in for a while, but this was somehow the first item I’d purchased something with them. The Marina Mini from Free People is the perfect baby doll style with an open back, square neckline and puff sleeve. I purchased in the pink, which is not available at the moment, but I love the other bright colors (and the black!) that it comes in. Such a cute fit that can easily be dressed up or worn more casually.

Deep Necklines

I didn’t realize how deep the neckline on this dress was when I first purchased it- the Antoinette Mini– but, in trying it on, it became clear quite quickly. I loved how it looked in the photos on the website, but it felt a little weird on first try-on. I ended up keeping it though because I love the look, especially with layered necklaces and flat sandals. Worst case, wear pasties so you don’t have to worry about any nip-slips. I ordered the black, but they just added them in a dark green and a summery yellow too!

Cinched Waists

Okay so this dress -the Gaia Mini Dress– gives me Ariel when she’s washed up on shore vibes. Remember that big sheet she wraps herself in? I always loved that look for some reason and with the bell sleeves and loosely cinched-waist on this dress, I knew I needed it. I also love that it came in purple (the moonlit orchid color). The look of something that usually might be a cream, or some other neutral color, in something more vibrant is usually an immediate yes from me. I love how it adds a more modern touch to a boho vibe.

Long & Flowy

And speaking of boho vibes… I am in LOVE with the Paradiso Maxi Dress. It too has a deep neckline, which gives it more shape since it’s otherwise very long and flowy. The details on the trim, the open back, the ruffles, the button down front and the hi-lo silhouette also give it some extra flair. This isn’t your typical boho maxi dress- it’s got lots of detail and playful additions, and can be worn buttoned as a maxi, or undone as a bathing suit cover or cardigan-type piece over shorts and a tank. I ordered in sweet tooth (the light pink) and black and am obsessed with both. I’ve gotten compliments every time I’ve worn them and I know I’ll be getting lots of use out of them this Spring/Summer.

Now here’s to my wallet hoping I don’t find anything else to update anytime soon 🙃
